Brussels is a quick train ride from Paris. Since we've been to Paris a handful of times before, I decided to break up this trip with a couple of day trips to Belgium. First up was Brussels. The train was cozy and included a breakfast for each of us.
Our first stop was the ancient castle. The top floor was specifically geared towards kids but they found plenty that interested them. The armor was a big hit for all of us.
After exploring the castle we walked over to the Chocolate Factory. I would skip this. While it was interesting, it was small and extremely crowded.
Then we walked over to the Grand Palace. The Grand Palace is a very large square, the center of which has a very large carpet made up entirely of flowers. The pattern changes every so often. When we were there they were in the process of changing the pattern.
We also ate lunch at the Grand Palace, I had a bucket of mussels and a flight of Belgium beers that were more delicious than I had anticipated.
But you know that we couldn't leave Brussels without having some Belgium waffles and of course, frites.
